Kids are natural marketers. They truly are.

I am a *mumsketer* which means a mum, a marketer & a bit of a musketeer too.

It has struck me so many times that I have started to make notes of all these analogies between marketing and kids.

Some are obvious, some can be a bit of a stretch but you will see : there is truth!

I have been working for 20 years and been a mum for only 10 (gosh, he is already 10!) so I have seen and heard plenty of customer experiences.  More often than not, when is a situation with a customer, there is a parallel to be made with kids and their reactions.

Yes I do use my kids for marketing

I use them to test some marketing ideas because they have no filters. They don’t know the story so their opinion has value in some cases. You know the *explain to me like I am a 5 year-old* saying? It works.

I admit sometimes it is not the case.

Take the Covid19 recent social distancing phenomenon. Instructions are simple : stay home with your loved ones, your internet connection and everything. Don’t panic, you will be fine : stay home and wash your hands.

OK results : kids are ok and follow directions even if it does suck to wash hands so often and not being able to go to the skate park. But ok, done deal.

Most adults however have turned into toddlers who have never heard the word *no* before. They go outside anyways (more than before!?), buy supplies to last 6 months and complain.

(Forget the toilet paper story, could never figure out that one and neither  could any kid I asked about it.)

So in short, if you want to learn marketing : watch your kids .. or not.
